The concerned diplomat has been asked to leave India within the next five days,\u201d the external affairs ministry said in a brief statement.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike the Canadian side, the statement did not name the Canadian diplomat being expelled.<\/p>\n<p>People familiar with the matter said Olivier Sylvestere, the Canadian intelligence agency station chief in India, was the official asked to leave the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe decision reflects Government of India\u2019s growing concern at the interference of Canadian diplomats in our internal matters and their involvement in anti-India activities,\u201d the statement said, without giving details.<\/p>\n<p>Canada says Indian gov\u2019t agents could be linked to Sikh leader\u2019s murder<\/p>\n<p>India has already rejected Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau\u2019s contention that there are \u201ccredible allegations of a potential link\u201d between Indian government agents and the killing of Nijjar in June, describing the claim as \u201cabsurd and motivated\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Soon after Trudeau spoke on the matter in Canada\u2019s Parliament, foreign minister M\u00e9lanie Joly announced the expulsion of a \u201ctop Indian diplomat\u201d.
