Trump Claims Israel Agrees to 60-Day Ceasefire Proposal in Gaza
Washington/Occupied Jerusalem – U.S. President Donald Trump has claimed that Israel has agreed to the key terms of a proposed 60-day ceasefire in Gaza, raising hopes for a potential end to the months-long war.
In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, President Trump stated that the deal would involve all parties working toward a comprehensive halt to hostilities. He added that Qatari and Egyptian mediators would present the final proposal and expressed hope that Hamas would accept the terms, warning that “it won’t get better than this — only worse.”

The proposal comes amid ongoing Israeli military operations that began after the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack, which killed around 1,200 people in Israel. In response, Israel launched a large-scale assault on Gaza. According to the Hamas-run Ministry of Health in Gaza, over 56,647 Palestinians have been killed in the conflict so far.

It remains unclear whether Hamas will accept the proposed ceasefire conditions.
Trump’s remarks come just days ahead of his scheduled meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Calling it a “tough-talking meeting,” Trump said he believes Netanyahu is now seeking an end to the war. “I think there will be a deal next week,” he added.

Last week, a senior Hamas official told a British news outlet that while mediation efforts had intensified, direct negotiations with Israel remain stalled. Israel insists that a ceasefire can only be achieved after the full dismantling of Hamas, while Hamas has demanded a permanent truce and complete Israeli withdrawal from Gaza.

Currently, about 50 Israeli hostages are still believed to be held in Gaza, with only 20 confirmed to be alive.
Trump’s statement coincides with Israel issuing new evacuation orders for civilians in northern Gaza. On Monday, Israeli airstrikes targeted a café in Gaza City, killing at least 20 people, according to eyewitnesses and medical sources.
