Venezuelan Opposition Leader Maria Corina Machado Wins Nobel Peace Prize 2025, Calls Trump a ‘Friend of Freedom’

Caracas: Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado has won the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize and dedicated it to her country’s brave citizens — and to “friends of freedom,” including U.S. President Donald Trump.

According to international media reports, Machado said the award symbolizes the courage of Venezuelans who have fought against tyranny and oppression for years.

“I dedicate this prize to my people and to all our friends who supported Venezuela’s dream of freedom — including President Trump,” she said in her acceptance statement.

Machado added that Venezuelans have endured hunger, imprisonment, threats, and exile, yet they continue to fight for democracy. “We are standing at the gates of victory,” she declared emotionally.
