Karachi: Heavy Traffic Claims Two More Lives
KARACHI – The menace of heavy traffic on Karachi’s roads has claimed two more lives. A tragic accident occurred near Lucky One Mall on Rashid Minhas Road, where a speeding dumper rammed into a motorcycle, killing a brother and sister on the spot and leaving their father critically injured.
According to family sources, the victims were returning from a wedding. Heartbreakingly, the deceased young woman was due to be married next month.
Following the accident, enraged citizens set seven dumpers on fire and caught the driver involved, subjecting him to a severe beating before handing him over to the police.
The incident brought traffic to a standstill as Rashid Minhas Road was closed. In response to the torching of dumpers, the Dumper Owners Association staged a protest on the Super Highway, blocking the road from Sohrab Goth in both directions. The blockade severely disrupted traffic flow.
Police have confirmed the arrest of 15 individuals accused of setting the dumpers ablaze.
The tragedy has once again highlighted the dangers posed by heavy vehicles plying city roads, with citizens demanding stricter regulations and enforcement to prevent further loss of life.
