WASHINGTON, D.C.: In a joint press conference in Washington with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, US President Donald Trump announced an agreement on a ceasefire deal in Gaza. President Trump stated that both parties are close to a peace agreement, expressing gratitude for Prime Minister Netanyahu’s consent, and calling the day a “historic day for peace in the Middle East.”
Detailing the agreement, President Trump announced that a new government will be established in Gaza.

The new administration will be comprised of Palestinians and experts from around the world.

The affairs of Gaza will be managed by an international board, the ‘Board of Peace.’

President Trump himself will chair this International Board, which is being established to eradicate terrorism.

He also revealed that former British Prime Minister Tony Blair is interested in joining the board, with other names to be released in the coming days.
According to the US President, the agreement stipulates that an interim government over Gaza will be established through a non-political Palestinian committee, while major economic projects will be initiated for reconstruction and rehabilitation.
Handling of Hamas

President Trump mentioned he has heard that Hamas also desires a ceasefire.

He clarified that Arab and Muslim countries will speak with Hamas.

He believes this step could enable the release of all hostages within 72 hours.

The American President warned that if Hamas does not accept the agreement, Israel will receive full support against it.
Phased Withdrawal
It was also announced during the joint press conference that the parties will agree on a timeline for the phased withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza.
