Canada Qualifies for ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 After Dominant Win Over Bahamas
Toronto – Canada has officially secured its place in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 following a commanding victory over the Bahamas in the Americas Regional Qualifier. The hosts bowled out the Bahamian side for just 57 runs and chased the target in just 5.3 overs.
Kaleem Sana and Shivam Sharma starred with the ball, claiming three wickets each. Dhalpreet Bajwa then stole the show with the bat, smashing an unbeaten 36 off just 14 balls to finish the chase in record time.

Canada remained unbeaten throughout the qualifying tournament, winning all five matches. They previously defeated Bermuda by 110 runs, the Cayman Islands by 59 runs, and the Bahamas by 10 wickets in the earlier round. They also secured a 42-run win in a rain-shortened five-over match against the Cayman Islands in the second phase.
Under the leadership of Nicholas Kirton, Canada’s team has shown remarkable consistency, having also featured in last year’s T20 World Cup hosted by the USA and West Indies.

With this victory, Canada becomes the 12th team to qualify for the 2026 edition of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, joining hosts India and Sri Lanka, as well as Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, South Africa, Pakistan, Ireland, the USA, the West Indies, and New Zealand.
The remaining seven spots will be filled through the Europe, Africa, and Asia-East Pacific regional qualifiers. The T20 World Cup 2026 is scheduled to take place in India and Sri Lanka.
