IHC Summons Top Officials Over PTI’s Planned September 27 Islamabad March
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has summoned the Attorney General and IGPs regarding the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) planned countrywide protests and march on the capital set for September 27.
ISB: Recognizing the severity of the situation, the IHC Chief Justice has formed a larger bench to hear the petition challenging the forthcoming protests, terming the matter a potential “constitutional crisis”.
The court has issued formal notices to the respondents. This legal intervention sets the stage for a major showdown between the federal administration and the opposition, as authorities seek to address the legal and security challenges posed by the call for a massive political lockdown of the capital.
