SHC Rejects Plea Seeking JIT Probe in Mir Raza Murder Case
High Court directs investigating officer to complete inquiry with full impartiality
KARACHI — The Sindh High Court on Wednesday dismissed a constitutional petition requesting the constitution of a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to probe the high-profile murder of Mir Raza. In its order, the high court bench noted that forming an administrative investigative body remains the executive prerogative of the provincial government.
The court directed the investigating authorities to conclude the ongoing inquiry in an impartial, transparent, and expedited manner. The petitioner had raised concerns over procedural lapses in the initial police inquiry, seeking a multi-agency panel; however, the state prosecution assured the bench that all forensic leads and ballistics data were being rigorously compiled.
With the dismissal of the plea, local law enforcement faces pressure to finalize the formal charge sheet without procedural delays, following forensic confirmation regarding the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.
