Hajj 2026: Pilgrims Gather at Mount Arafat for the Ultimate Ritual of Waqoof
Millions of Hajj Pilgrims Move from Mina to Arafat to Listen to the Hajj Sermon
MAKKAH: The spiritual climax of the annual Hajj pilgrimage, Waqoof-e-Arafat (the standing at Arafat), is being observed today on the 9th of Dhul Hijjah. Millions of pilgrims from across the globe are making their way from the tent city of Mina to the plains of Arafat.
During their stay in Arafat, pilgrims will listen to the historic Hajj sermon delivered from Masjid-e-Nimra and engage in prayers until sunset. At dusk, the congregation will move toward Muzdalifah to spend the night under the open sky.
The Rituals of 10th Dhul Hijjah: Rami, Qurbani, and Tawaf-e-Ziyarah
On the morning of the 10th of Dhul Hijjah, pilgrims will perform the Fajr prayer in Muzdalifah and remain there until sunrise before departing back to Mina.
Final Stages of the Hajj Pilgrimage
Upon arriving in Mina, pilgrims will execute the final sequence of Hajj rituals:

Rami al-Jamarat: The symbolic stoning of the devil.

The Sacrifice (Qurbani) & Halq: Performing the animal sacrifice and shaving or clipping the hair to officially exit the state of Ihram.

Tawaf-e-Ziyarah & Sa’ee: Moving to the Grand Mosque in Makkah to perform the circumambulation of the Kaaba and the walk between Safa and Marwa.
